Understanding Protection on the XCOR PRO
The XCOR PRO provides two distinct layers of hearing protection:

• Passive protection — provided by the ear tips any time they are inserted, regardless of whether the unit is powered on. The level of passive protection depends on tip type and fit: Max Protect Foam Tips (29 dB SNR / 23 dB NRR) or Silicone Tips (27 dB SNR / 21 dB NRR).
• Electronic protection — active only when the unit is powered on. Loud impulse sounds over 85 dB are automatically compressed to safer levels.

When you place the XCOR PRO in your ears without turning it on, you have passive protection only. Turning the unit on adds the electronic compression layer on top of that passive protection.

Hearing Enhancement
The XCOR PRO is designed for hearing protection, so your hearing is protected even in the enhancement mode. It provides three volume levels: Low (Default), medium, and loud. 
To activate the hearing enhancement, please long press on the AXIL Faceplate until you hear "Sound On."  (The faceplate is highlighted in green and blue below.) 
Once you hear "Sound On,"  you can control the enhancement level by clicking the rectangular button. The XCOR PRO turns on at the lowest level. Then, when you press the rectangular button, you move to medium, and one more press brings you to loud. The unit will default back to the lowest setting.
