The GS Extreme Earbuds are designed for noise isolation. They compress sounds over 85 dB, changing their frequency to protect your hearing. This compression does not dampen the noise, allowing you to hear things in real-time. The foam tips, which provide 29 dB of passive hearing protection, will dampen the noise. 

Noise Isolation is different than noise cancellation. Since the GS Extreme is designed for loud environments, hearing the noise while protecting your hearing is vital.
